Nexus ACARS 2.2.2 Update

Is Nexus the preferred ACARS system? I started with Smart3 but I see that Nexus has been upgraded at least 3 or four times since we changed over to the new site. If I change over should Smart3 be removed or can I leave in on the HD?

Does the Nexus Client upgrade automatically after initial installation? Your note on our site indicates that we would use the download on our site but future upgrades would come from NEXUS site? Do we sign up with a NEXUS account? When I checked the NEXUS site Up-Grade section it sends you to a sign up page that appears to be for Management rather that pilots.

Nexus now downloads automatically if you have the correct version. You do not need to sign up for a nexus account. Where is ot taking you to the nexus site? What nexus ACARS version do you have? You can still use smartCARS 3.

I'm going to stick with smartACARS3. I loaded up NEXUS but don't really feel like learning a whole new setup. When I started up NEXUS it did automatically upgraded to version 15. When I got it set up I could not figure out how to get a flight working. Guess I'll have to read more of the instructions. I did not attempt to create a NEXUS account. The section I tried to upgrade from was located at the bottom of the NEXUS official site page not the NEXUS ACARS page and labeled "upgrades" but I was obviously in the wrong area .

When I completely removed the version 15 NEXUS from my HD and reinstalled it again after a hard reboot I was surprised that it did not automatically upgrade to the newer version 16 or if I'm reading it correctly version 20. At that point I removed NEXUS and reinstalled smartACARS3 with no problems. Apparently failing eyesight and a messed up back make simple things complicated.

Nexus is still a work in progress. If you feel you want to try it again. Delete what you have and re download nexus. The current version that we have for download is the version that will update within nexus.
Im am still interested on you were brought to create a nexus account.

I went to the NEXUS website to try to find how to properly update the core folders. I went to the bottom of the NEXUS page and found an "update" reference in that area and pressed it. The page then changed to the typical page found that asks you to sign-in, etc. Then I realized it was telling me to open a new NEXUS account.

I thought that acars was redirecting you there. Your issue is updating Nexus?

That's correct. When I reinstalled NEXUS the second time and it did not update automatically as it had after my second attempt from version 14 to 15. I thought I had done something wrong. I don't understand why there are notifications on our site, check the upper right hand little bell, that indicate that the current upgraded version is version 20. I can't figure out how to properly upgrade to that version from our site or for that matter directly from NEXUS.

That bell is for me. It shouldn't push out to everyone. I have a request to fix that. Can you delete the nexus you have now. Do it through control panel --> Add/Remove Programs. Than re download the current version. Download Nexus

That should give you the auto update without any issues.

TX for the clarification. I had kind of guessed that these frequent "upgrades" really didn't amount to much more than tweaks that have been added or modified to the NEXUS Core and not really major changes requiring version changes at this time. Removing the bell would be a positive step.

The bell will always be there. There will be notifications to pilots too.
